Some individuals try to avoid hangovers by eating starchy meals like bread or drinking milk to coat their stomachs, but this 34-year-old expert has a different suggestion.

The Pulmonology and Critical Care specialist advises: “If you’re planning to party and drink alcohol, eat cheese before drinking to reduce the risk of a hangover.”

She explains: “Cheese contains protein, fat, and complex carbohydrates, which help coat the stomach and inhibit alcohol absorption. It also improves alcohol metabolism and protects the liver. Cheese also contains vitamin B and calcium, nutrients that are lost while ingesting alcohol.
