Shakira, 48, has canceled an upcoming concert in Lima, Peru, after being hospitalized because of an “abdominal issue.”
Shakira shared the health update in a statement on her X account on Sunday, Feb. 16.
“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized. The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.”
“I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform. My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you.”
The global superstar closed by thanking all of her fans.
The singer planned to perform at Estadio Nacional in Lima on Feb. 16 before she was hospitalized. Plus, she has another show scheduled at the same venue on Feb. 17 before her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour continues in her home country of Colombia, according to Today.
Shakira’s hospitalization comes just two weeks after the singer won the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the awards show on Feb. 2.
After her appearance at the 2025 Grammys, Shakira resumed her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. She is set to visit more countries across South America before bringing the tour to the U.S. in May and June.
